GrizFam Losing Their Shiz Over Final Transmission
Turns out our predictions were right and our prayers were answered! The Final Transmission was just as dramatic and exciting as we hoped, and it literally took our breath away. The visual collage of a video depict just how Grant and his team produced the word-art-style lyric video and bold transitions (now rather characteristic of Griz) and revealed all the news we were desperate to know!
A 14-track album titled “I’m Good” will be published in April of this year. The track titles we’re listed and happens to include many highly-teased and anticipated songs such as “My Friends and I Pt. 2 (feat. Snoop Dogg and ProbCause)”, “Bustin’ Out (feat. Bootsy Collins)”, “A New Day (feat. Matisyahu)”, and my absolute personal favorite (that I’ve been dying to have officially released!), “Maybe (feat. Yoshi Flower)”. “I’m Good”, another track off the soon-to-be-released album is already published on Spotify for fans and listeners and is the perfect balance of classic Griz: funk, soul, sax, and “Na Na Na’s” from his Live Band singers. Along with “It Gets Better” and “Can’t Get Enough”, we’re getting our Griz-groove on now!
The Final Transmission also revealed a spring tour with 12 tour dates between the East Coast and Midwest with tickets now for sale online. “Ride Waves Tour” was posted with the label “Season One” leading us to believe we can definitely expect more shows from Griz and Muzzy this summer, and since there are no dates past the middle of May, our fingers are still crossed for a Chicago-based show. Now that Griz is officially announced on Movement Festival’s lineup in Detroit, our hopes are totally crushed that he’ll play Summer Camp Music Festival… just mostly crushed. It’s still possible though, that he would make the Chillicothe-Detroit trek as he did back in 2015. Other potential Chicago-based shows we might see Griz perform at this year include Spring Awakening Music Festival in early June, Lollapalooza later in August, or another record-breaking Navy Pier show.
Vinyl and Digitial Presale packages are live and for $25 your vinyl will “come personally autographed by GRiZ…Each record will be individually kissed by him as well :)” according to his website. We suggest you head over to snag your copy while supplies last!
Flashback to Friday. Griz posts this short clip to his Facebook announcing he’s “going live” on Tuesday, January 22nd at 1pm EST with his “Final Transmission”: an announcement like this can only mean something big, something extreme, and something new.
His previous transmission, first transmitted on October 30th last year, revealed not one, but two new singles: “Can’t Get Enough” and “It Gets Better”. While Griz fans have been staved off with 12 days of Grizmas, sets at HiJinx and Decadence NYE, and Holy Ship 13.0 two weeks ago, anticipation for this big announcement is high.
There are currently 8 scheduled tour events between now and June which seems light for the producer/DJ/sax man who performed over 35 shows last year, excluding his DJ sets and pop-ups in and around Denver, Colorado. We also haven’t seen an album since “Chasing the Golden Hour Pt. 2” which was published to Soundcloud on September 3, 2017. Griz was previously publishing one if not two albums a year.
Place Your Bets!
So what does it all mean? The rumors are pretty consistent between Facebook groups, comments on the post, etc. Most of GrizFam expect an album drop, tour announcement or both! Others think there could be a big project, contract, or merch drop revealed, too. So what’s it going to be, Grant? Guess we’ll just have to wait! Tune into Griz’ LIVE Feed to catch the news live!
